Dear Alums, Thanks go out to everyone who made it to the 50th; the reunion was really an amazing time for us. David Lefkowith '78 wrote us an email the day after the Jam ended, stating at one point, "In a way I haven't fully accommodated yet, this weekend left me feeling gloriously diminished. I never, ever realized until Saturday afternoon at the banquet how small a part of the Duke's Men I really was. I had no concept of how big we were, how resilient our extended community has been in the face of towering adversity, and how much this legacy has grown to become something valuable and precious. I'm still trying to come to grips with these feelings - they are powerful, unanticipated and a bit uncomfortable." Indeed many if not all of us are suffering from withdrawal from the powerful moment of reunion; from Mory's to the reception to our rehearsal to the Jam itself to the farewell brunch, everything could not have gone more smoothly; in fact, it's the fact that everything went off so perfectly that makes it all the more incredible that the weekend is over. All the alums deserve a round of applause for sounding beautiful as well; many of our friends have commented on how great all the alums sounded, particularly the classes of the '50s / '60s. Thanks to the pitches for whipping the groups back into shape in just an hour of rehearsal, and to the various soloists for sounding gorgeous. Jamie and I and the current Duke's Men are going to finish off the reunion by putting together items for interested alums from reunion. A photo album, audio CD of jam, VHS tapes/DVDs of Jam, a historical packet, and also a compilation album are all in various stages of planning (available, of course, at a perfectly reasonable price at some future date). If there's enough interest, more reunion t-shirts will be printed as well (we sold out!). We will also probably be contacting you all again to extort more information out of you that we were not able to get this weekend regarding historical issues. An bulletin board is also being constructed, and an alumni database of all alums contact info will be made and posted/mailed to the alums. Thanks again for making the group what it is today; this weekend was for all of you.
PS: If you'd like to email the current singers, email dadoox-list@pantheon.yale.edu PPS: Alum emails to the group and to each other about the reunion (where deemed relevant) will be posted shortly to the site.
For any questions:
Below is the list of Duke's Men we are pretty sure attended mostly because they paid alum dues; we know there were at least 5 more alums there who we didn't know were coming and so couldn't even confirm who they were:
